This week in review

Hello!  This is my first blog and there are many more to follow.  I will update my blog every couple of days.  Today's blog is going to touch upon what happened in the sports world this week, as well as in the award shows, and also about what happened in Hollywood.  At the end of each blog I will give you my top five favorite songs for the week.

A-Fraud- What do you know, another cheater in the game of baseball!  What is that, the 200th person to get caught using steroids?  You know what is really funny, Alex said he didn't know what he was injecting into himself!  HAHA right, good excuse.  But hey, props to you for admitting it, unlike Barry and Roger.  Looks like Joe Torre was right after all.  Sorry, but baseball just isn't the same with all these cheaters.  Hey Alex, say goodbye to the Hall of Fame!

Manny is just being Manny-  I just don't understand.  Is there a reason why Manny hasn't signed with the Dodgers?  Manny played so well after getting traded to the Dodgers and yet he refuses to sign with them again.  Dear Manny, quit acting like you deserve to payed as if you were the best player in baseball, because you aren't!

Cincinnati Reds- So spring training has started.  My Cincinnati Reds are looking to break their streak of 8 straight losing seasons.  Sometimes I wonder if I will be able to ever see the Reds make the playoffs before I die.  What I really want to see is the Reds selling out a game that isn't Opening Day.  The closest the Reds have been to the playoffs in my era was in 1995 when they had a play-in game against the Mets.  Well, guess what, they didn't win.  And, since then they have just been horrific!  So Cincinnati, please break the streak!  While I'm talking about baseball and Cincinnati, why is Pete Rose still not in the Hall of Fame?  Really Major League Baseball?  Really Bud Selig?  Really?  If Barry Bonds is allowed to keep his home run record like Hank Aaron thinks, then Pete Rose should be allowed in the Hall of Fame!  What's worse, someone gambling on their team or someone using steroids to become the "Home Run King"?  And, yes, that is with an asterisks in my book!!

All-Star Weekend- It was nice to see that Dan Majerle still has his stroke as I watched him light it up in the Celebrity Game on Friday night.  What is really surprising though, is that Terrell Owens wasn't seen on camera whining and crying because he wasn't getting the ball.  Congrats to him for winning MVP of the game and proving that his basketball skills are by far greater than his football skills.  It was also nice to see the Harlem Globetrotters!  I love their antics, oh yeah, they can also play some ball!  It was good to see Daequan Cook, out of Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio (My hometown) and Ohio State, win the 3-point shootout.  Finally, someone other than Jason Kapono won something.  Everyone knew the dunk contest was going to be a good one.  No disappointments this year.  Except for the fact that Rudy Fernandez was ousted because the judges didn't seem to like the whiteness of his skin color.  Sorry, but he deserved better than a 42 for both dunks!  Sorry J.R. Smith, you couldn't match the sweetness of Nate Robinson or Dwight Howard, otherwise known as Superman.  Dwight Howard never disappoints.  He went through the whole Clark Kent routine as he went into the phone booth and changed into his Superman outfit.  Then, he proceeded to dunk, with ease, on a 12 foot hoop.  His dunks were good, but Nate's were better.  Hey, New York Knicks, maybe you could win some games if you wore that green jersey that Nate Robinson wore.  Yes, Nate Robinson is equal to Kryptonite!  Jumping over superman won him the dunk contest for the second time.  Dear David Stern,  just a suggestion for next year's dunk contest,  Superman, Kryptonite, Andre Igoduola, and THE KING!!

College Basketball-  I was torn to see that my beloved Duke Blue Devils lost to North Carolina.  I was elated to see my Dayton Flyers whoop Xavier.  News Flash; the Dayton Flyers are the real deal!  I also realized this week that Hasheen Thabeet is a MAN!  Notre Dame also proved that they really aren't as bad as people say they are after they destroyed Louisville.  As the weeks go by, Blake Griffin runs further away with the Player-of-the-Year title.

Michael Phelps- Wow!  Thank-you Michael for showing the world that basically every athlete/famous person has or still does smoke weed.  Get over it.  It's really sad that if you see Michael Phelps at a party, that you don't party with him, instead you turn him in!  JERK!

Miley Cyrus- Is this girl serious?  She continues to act like she is role model for younger children.  What is she 16?  She is dating a 22 year old.  Isn't that illegal?  Oh I almost forgot to mention that she is getting sued for $4-billion.  Now that is a role-model.  Honestly Miley, I don't understand why you are still a part of Disney.  If they were smart, they would drop you and everything that has to do with you.

Chris Brown/Rihanna- I don't know what happened, but apparently it's serious.  It's a shame that Chris Brown is a woman-beater.  I hope Rihanna and him are over now.  Looks like another Hollywood relationship can't withstand the pressure.

Movie Awards- Kate Hudson needs to quit crying!  We get it, you didn't expect that you would be getting an award, but after the first 3 awards, you would think that you would kind of expect to win.  So, on behalf of the American people, QUIT CRYING!  How has Gran Tarino not won any awards?  That was a great movie!  Not to mention Clint Eastwood sings, yes that's right, he sings at the end of the movie.  Slumdog Millionaire is the biggest winner of them all!  Seriously, if you haven't seen this movie, then you should literally be ashamed of yourself.  This is arguably one of the greatest movies since I have been alive!!  I love to watch movies so here are some movies that I think are worth watching: Seven Pounds, Valkyrie, Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Defiance, Taken, and the list goes on and on...
